Drag and drop

Hello, I recently started using Storyline and I'm having some issues with my drag-and-drop game.

First problem: when I drop my images into the correct spot, the images become distorted, and I don’t know why. Everything is grouped.

Second problem: I would like the user to be able to retry only the incorrect answers. I found a video tutorial and it worked fine, but even after a second attempt, it still shows a wrong answer message, even though the unlimited attempts option is selected.

I tested it with a simple image and it worked, but with my grouped images, it doesn’t work.

Thank you for your help.

I'd guess the grouping is the issue... Try right clicking the group then save as picture (png), reinsert that png as a single object and use that as the drag item. Also worth doing in drag & drop options, set "snap dropped items to drop target" to free (don't snap), or make every drop target exactly the same width/height as its tile so there's nothing to rescale. This all should fix the retry only incorrect answers problem also.

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the playback of a Drag-and-Drop design in Storyline.

Are any of the grouped drag objects SVGs, or do the groups contain SVG elements? Storyline may be showing the dragged object’s Normal state when it should be showing another state, and possibly causing the distortion. I ask because we're tracking a Storyline bug that is causing this particular behavior.

To your second issue, are you only using the built-in Drag-and-Drop options, or did you add custom Triggers/Variables from the tutorial that was followed? It's possible that a custom Trigger is firing on every submit and overriding Storyline's built-in retry behavior.

Also, it would be easier to troubleshoot if we could see the course you've built out so far. Do you mind uploading a copy of the affected .story file here in the discussion or through a support case?

Looking forward to hearing from you!
