Embedded site looks MASSIVE!
Apologies if this already exists! I tried searching but no one was having this particular problem...
I am building a course in Rise and would like to embed an actual website into the course. When you add content to begin a course, there is an option to embed a site:
And when you are already using blocks, there is an option under Multimedia to Embed a site.
The problem is, that it's not showing up as I'd like it to. I would like for the page to display the webpage WITHIN the course. Instead, it's providing a link to an external page... and it's ending up looking like an ad in my course, and I'm afraid people will skip over it:
THEN I thought "OK I'll just "insert web object" in a Storyline 360 file and use that format. That somewhat accomplished what I wanted, however I'm getting different results when I insert the exact same file into Rise vs. publishing to a webpage.
RISE (Inserted via SL360):
WEB:
Why is the site showing up so huge when added into Rise?

Hi Erin!
It looks like Government of Canada website may be responsive, which means the layout of the site changes based upon the width of the browser window.
You can embed a website directly into your Rise lesson using an iFrame code like this one:
<iframe src="Insert the URL Here"></iframe>
What is the URL to the website you'd like to embed? I'll create an iFrame code for you that you can use in a URL/Embed lesson or a Multimedia Embed block.

Alyssa,
Thank you for your reply. I'm SO not tech-savvy, so you lost me at "code" haha. Just kidding. But not really. But kind of.
The specific page I'm looking to embed is: https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/search

Hi Alyssa,
This post was very helpful!
Thanks very big :)
Don't worry, Erin! It's actually pretty simple to use iFrame codes. Check out this quick video to find out how it's done!

Thanks for that video. Can you tell me why I cannot seem to embed using the code and url below? Thanks in advance.

Wonderful, thanks so much Alyssa :) Do you mind if I share that video with my team?
Absolutely, share away! 😊
Hi Karin!
Your iFrame code looks correct, and the FederalRegister.gov site passes in in this security checker. A few folks from my team investigated this, and we think there is something written into that webpage to prevent it from being displayed in a frame.
Instead, could you embed the PDF document that is linked on that page, or simply link to that webpage without an iFrame?
Hello again Karin,
I wanted to circle back to this discussion, as we've done some more testing and uncovered another clue. In Internet Explorer 11 and Edge, the embedded FederalRegister.gov site in Rise displays an error message stating, "This content cannot be displayed in a frame. To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame."
So it appears that this website has extra security measures in place that prevent it from being displayed in an iFrame, as we suspected. Let me know if you have any more questions about that--I'm here to help!

Hi,
I have tried this using the code above and adding the webpage I would like to embed but I get an error message. I have included a screenshot of what happens.
The webpage I am trying to embed is http://connect/Divisions/TrustServices/imt/InformationSystemsTraining/Pages/default.aspx
Thanks
Welcome to the community, DLD 1! I'd love to help you solve this. 🕵️♀️
Yikes, I'm able to replicate the same error message in a test Rise course. I'm also unable to access the link when clicking on it, and cannot successfully add the URL as a Web Object in Storyline 360. Here's a quick Peek of what I see.
Really strange! To help us dig deeper, are you able to insert the link as a Web Object on your end? Is it possible the content was moved to a different location?

Thanks Alyssa, the video was easy to follow!
Any thought on how to integrate and Active Directory type thing.. to search for people or add people from AD to contact details for " People to contact" placeholders ? Can such integration be done as it works today? it would lead to less update work long term when people changes roles, quits and there is new people etc..
Can such pages also be embedded? - hkanstrmCommunity Member
Hello, when i add an embed it automatically makes it a https.
The links stops working.
