Feedback master seem to be a bit buggy, formatting not "sticking"
Hi BorgCube!
Sorry to hear you're having issue working with Feedback Master Slides in Storyline!
I can confirm the behavior you described around Button States is related to a bug we are currently tracking in Storyline. This bug causes:
- Editing States on the Feedback Master does not change States from the Feedback Layer.
I've included your voice in the bug report, so we can notify you as soon as a fix is in place. In the meantime, as a workaround we suggest modifying Button States for each individual Layer, at the Slide-level.
However, testing in the current version of Storyline 360, I'm unable to replicate the Feedback Master/text formatting issue you shared. In my project, font that was set to Bold, Italic, and Arial Black did inherit all of those changes upon previewing my course.
Do you mind sharing a copy of the .story file in which you are observing this issue? Feel free to upload that here in the discussion or privately in a support case.
Also, Storyline doesn't directly support exporting a Feedback Master to be used in separate projects. As a workaround, we suggest:
- Switch to Feedback Master View: Go to the View tab on the ribbon and click Feedback Master.
- Design Your Feedback Master: Customize the feedback master and its layouts as needed.
- Save Your Feedback Master: Once you've edited your feedback master, save your Storyline file. Or you can do a Save As, to save the file in a .storylinetemplate format.
- Import the Feedback Master into Another Story File: Open the new story file where you want to use the feedback master. Go to the Home tab, click Import, and select the Storyline file (or template) with the edited Feedback Master.
- Apply the Feedback Master: After importing, you can apply the Feedback Master to your Slides by selecting the feedback layers and choosing the appropriate layout from the Feedback Master drop-down list.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hi Steven, and thanks for the information.
I'm glad to hear Articulate is finally getting around to fixing the issues with customizing/editing Feedback Master.
I've already tried the workaround you provided, but it didn't work. I can try once more.
As of now, I have taken some screenshots and provied you a short screen-capture so you can see the issues. As you can see from the screenshots, I've removed the title from the master-slides, but it still shows up in preview, but now its located on the leftmost side of the feedback-slide (see video-file at the bottom of the post).
The button has been resized, but the normal-state still has the old size when preiviewing even though it's not so in States.
Also you can see the states-view is bugged on the "Correct"-submaster.
There's a lot of stuff going on here that has been an issue for years and years. I'm quite baffled that issues like this still is present in the software to be perfectly honest with you.

Hi BorgCube,
Thanks for the additional details. When I tested this issue on my end, I couldn't replicate the behavior with the title appearing in an unusual location. I'd like to ask a few questions to clarify your experience.
- Is this something you can consistently replicate on a new Storyline 360 project?
- What happens if you insert a new Feedback Master layout and make changes there? Is the behavior still the same?
- Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file, which contains some of your question slides, here or privately by opening a support case so we can examine your Feedback Master? We'll delete it when we're done testing!
We'll share any possible bugs we find with our product team, and also test to see if there are any workarounds available that we can share to hopefully get around the current behavior.

Here's a stripped version of the file as importing just the necessary slides to a blank file didn't work; it didn't import the edited Feedback Master together with the quiz-slides.

Hi BorgCube,
Thanks for sharing a copy of your project file. I did some tests, and I was able to consistently replicate the behavior you described regarding the feedback master layout. I filed the behavior as a possible bug, to go with the bug report that my colleague Steven already mentioned to you.
We apologize for the issues you experienced with the Feedback Master, and we'll share updates with you as soon as we hear back from our product team.
