Focus order - Doesn't include a separate line item for hyperlinks within a text box?
You can hyperlink the text, or you can hyperlink the text box. If you hyperlink the text box, you can add hover, down, and visited states separate from the default hyperlink color system. A prior experiment demonstrated that if you have a hyperlink trigger on the text in a text box and a hyperlink trigger on the text box with the hyperlinked text in it, the hyperlink trigger on the text box takes priority.
I hope it's alright to continue this conversation as it relates to an issue I'm working through, even though this was 2 years ago.
I'm updating a compliance course and there is a hyperlink the learner needs to click to review a policy before they can move forward in the course. There is a hyperlink in the text box that links to the policy document. The text box is also set to open the policy document when clicked, presumably to help learners who struggle to accurately click the hyperlink text.
The text box has a variable of "False" until they click the text box which changes the variable to "True" which then unlocks the NEXT button. However, because the hyperlinked text and the text box are programmed to link to the document, when the learner clicks the text hyperlink, it's opening the link twice. Assuming this is because the hyperlink and text box are programmed to open the link.
What is a better way to do this?

I think you are prime "button" territory. Using the "Open URL/File" function has a lot of great uses, but I think you'd want a stronger call to action than a colored/underlined text.

"You've just entered Button Territory!" Ha! It's amazing how we overthink things and overlook the most obvious, simple solution?! A button... why didn't I think of that? And you're right, it's more of a call to action than the proverbial "Click HERE" mantra. Many thanks!
