Formatting Tables in Storyline
Anyone else have difficulties formatting tables in Storyline these days? I have 3 slides, each with one table apiece and it has taken me 2+ hours to ID these slides because formatting has to be done cell by cell.
If I highlight a column and bold, maybe all cells will change to bold. Maybe they won't. Maybe half of them will, maybe one of them will. Same with font size or any formatting.
It's inconsistent and I can't seem to find what makes multi-cell formatting work better some days and not others. I am wondering if there is something I am missing in how I format these tables to help me speed up? I am attaching an example where you can see I have 4 cells selected and only 2 of them took the bold formatting, leaving the other 2 cells untouched.

Hi EstherEccles031! Thanks for sharing the screenshot. That helps a lot!
One thing that can cause this is mixed formatting inside the table cells, especially if the text was pasted from Word or PowerPoint. When that happens, Storyline can apply formatting differently across multiple cells.
You might try selecting the text inside the cells (not just the cells themselves) before applying bold or changing the font. Pasting as plain text and then formatting in Storyline can help too.
If it’s still happening, what version of Storyline are you using? If you’re open to it, a quick sample file would help us take a closer look.

Thanks for your reply Lauren,
I am using version 3.112.36406.0, last updated on March 3. Regardless of where I input text, I always first have it in a Notepad (plain text). I've never had good success with copy/pasting text into a table even from notepad, so I always type it from scratch.
Essentially, pasting from plain text and formatting in Storyline is in fact what I'm trying to do. After sending this note I did find better success with using formatting options from the top of the screen Menu instead of what pops up when selecting the cells. Takes a little more time but less time than having to format cell by cell.
Hello EstherEccles031,
Thanks for sharing more details, really helpful to get that context.
I want to confirm that we did release an update to Storyline 360 on March 17th to Update 113. I recommend working on the latest version to get the best experience in Storyline 360! You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.
I’m glad to hear you’ve found more consistent results using the formatting options from the top menu. I'm curious, what formatting option are you selecting?
We'd be happy to take a closer look at a sample course you're working on within a support case to continue the conversation. We'll be sure to delete files after testing!
