Freeform questions without feedback

Hi everyone,

I need to create a quiz with 4 question banks (over 100 questions).

I want the questions to NOT have a feedback layer when the user is taking the test.

I have created freeform questions (examples see attachments) and added a submit button. The submitting seems to work, but whatever I do, it does not want to go to the next slide when I click the submit button.

I have added blanco feedback layers with the trigger 'jump to next slide when the timeline starts on this layer', but that doesn't work.

I have deleted the feedback layers completely, but that also doesn't work...

What am I missing here?

  • That slide you shared is not a Freeform.

Have you tried going to the Form view and changing feedback to none, that should then jump to the next slide.

  • In my view on top of the screen it is a freeform? Yes I have tried to change to feedback 'none' and no luck....

In Slide Properties, change Slide Advances from “Automatically” to “By user” for both slides. Both question slides are identical, and I don’t think you notice the difference when the first slide automatically jumps to the next slide, giving the illusion that you are stuck on the first slide. At least, that’s what happened to me before I realized the issue.

When we make freeform question slides, there isn't a good indicator that a slide is freeform. There's no textbox that says whether a slide is or is not, for example, so your screenshot doesn't show anything that supports or opposes the slide is freeform.

What the other commentor is likely referring to is that the file you attached to your post contains one single blank slide. Maybe you intended to upload more than one file? But the one file you attached contains no questions for us to analyze.

To confirm, this is the setting you've changed?:

Because if that is still set to By Question or By Choice, deleting the feedback layers will not fix the problem. Setting the Feedback to None actually hides the feedback layers for you, so you adding triggers to the feedback layers suggests the setting was not None.

  • Nedim answered while I was checking the file.

Here's what I originally did to the file for troubleshooting:

    • Edited the questions so they looked different. (As Nedim said, the same question was used twice, which makes it hard to tell what's happening.
    • Added a question draw and an extra slide after to allow for previewing.
    • Changed Feedback to "None." That automatically deleted the feedback layers.
    • I also changed Score to "By Question." Unless you're going to give partial credit for some incorrect answers, there's no need to score "By choice."

I hadn't originally noticed the auto-advance setting he mentioned, because I answered the question before the timeline ended when I was previewing. But the "Slide advances" does need to be changed to "By user."

The "Submit __" trigger automatically jumps to the next slide if there's no immediate feedback. That's what it does in the attached file.

BTW, I suggest you use a different effect for the Hover state, such as a glow. I found the different-fill-color Hover state confusing, because I couldn't tell I selected a shape until I moved the mouse away.
