Is it possible to have more than one fill-in-the-blank question on each slide?

Hey Joshua! This is a little bit of a trick, because the way Storyline handles fill-in-the-blank questions by default is, it really only evaluates one field per question slide. But here's a way to make it do what you want: you can essentially create a freeform Pick One question instead, but move the choices off-screen and use triggers to select the correct choice automatically when all the data entry fields on your slide are filled in correctly by your learner. Hi Lesa - Yes, you can totally do that! Here's a quick look at how you could set that up, and the Storyline file is attached below. Keep in mind, though, that if you've included a menu on your slide, learners would still be able to use that to jump ahead to the next slide before filing in the fields, unless you've chosen restricted or locked navigation on your player. What a lot of folks do if that's a concern is just remove the menu from the player (or at least remove it from appearing on this particular slide). Hope this helps.

Hi Melanie first thing - in the variable list you had already entered the default value to equal the answer - these should be left blank that is why you were seeing them already displayed on the slide. A couple of the variables were mis matching in your triggers. I've updated your file and also moved the correct/incorrect buttons and added text boxes with the variable references - we do this to test that things are happening as they should be with the variables - you can remove them when you want to. You'll also need to add a trigger to change state of 'incorrect' button to selected if they get any wrong. The easiest trigger to do is: Change state of 'incorrect' button to selected when user clicks submit on condition state of correct button is not 'selected'. The alternative trigger is: Change state of 'incorrect' button to selected when user clicks submit on condition that each of the fields is not equal to the correct answer - you used the AND condition in the correct trigger use the OR condition for the incorrect trigger. Hi Katy, Although there isn't a built-in feature for doing that, you could set up the behavior manually, using a logic similar to the examples above. You'd just need a couple variables and some conditional triggers. Here's one way you could do it (and the file's attached below so you can take a look).

I've downloaded the example presentation for the fill in the blank. Mine mimics the presentation but when I go to preview, it just does not work. I don't know where I'm going wrong. I keep getting "You must complete the question before submitting." And I've typed in information in the boxes. I inserted "input/data entry" boxes. Was that wrong? Help!

  if you can share your file someone can take a look and help you. In the majority of cases it is trigger order. Just use the grey 'add attachment' button at the bottom of the post to upload your file.

So I thought I'd recreate it in the slide presentation I want it in. Following all the same layers and such and checking my form. Now when I preview my answers are pre-filled. Why is it doing that?

Thanks for sending over your file, Tetra!

Open the Variables window, and take a look at the 'Default Value' column. The default value for those variables should be blank.

Delete the words in that column, then preview the slide again. Everything should work correctly now!
