Handwriting practise in Storyline

Is there any clever way to leverage functionality to allow a learner  (5-6 year old) to pratise handwriting?

I would like to do two things -

1) Free practice writing letters - here I want Storyline to identify whether or not they have written something (anything) in a particular area to use as trigger for allowing 'continue'

2) Practise correct formation of letters where I want to insert the outlines of one letter per slide and the learner writes between lines/along a dotted line. Here ideally Storyline should give a correct/incorrect response (BUT being able to practise is the most important part. Holy grail would be something that gives immediate feedback if the learner goes outside the lines and a well done if they have written correctly)

Any tips on including ways for learners to write interactively would be most appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Jessica

  • Hi Jessica! That's a really cool idea! I don't believe there's a way to do that directly in Storyline 360, but I'll defer to the community in case they have any other creative solutions.

  • Even if this were possible, I think you'd need something like a wacom tablet with stylus to get anywhere close to simulating the experience of writing with a pen or pencil on paper. Handwriting with a mouse is difficult even for someone who knows how to handwrite.

I would say this is a task--like bike riding, gymnastics, and playing a musical instrument--that is not well-suited to e-learning.
