Hi Mark,
First, you can check what version you're using by opening a Storyline file and going to the Help tab and clicking on About Articulate Storyline. You'll see a pop up box like below where you'll see the update number.
If the import did not work, it's possible the file has been corrupted, and if that's the case there is not much to do to fix it. I'm happy to take a look at it though and see if I experience any different behavior. You can either share it here in the forums, or if you'd prefer to share it privately please let me know and I'll send you a private message with details. Installing the update wouldn't cause any further corruption issues, but would help with future files as there were a number of bug fixes detailed here.
