Hide score from learner in LMS, but keep score and answer detail logged in admin view of LMS

I have made an assessment in SL360, and following advice found on another link, published as SCORM 2004 so that in our LMS (Absorb), it is possible to view which answers a learner selected for each question.

However, the assessment also displays the final / total score to the learner in the 'learner experience' of the LMS and for this assessment, there is a strong preference to hide the score.

Is there any possible setting (in either SL360 or Absorb) that this learner view restriction can be enabled?

  • Hi Jason,

Great question! I understand you want to hide the total score data from the learner but still report it to the LMS. You’ll want to check in with Absorb to see if they can give you any input on this. Storyline 360 doesn't currently have an option for hiding reported data, but that sounds like an interesting idea that I can share with our product team.

Also, here is an article about the quiz data Storyline sends to an LMS!

    Thanks for reaching out!

This would be a good feature if it's something Articulate can do on their end.

  • Hi Jason,

This does not pertain to your question, but I wanted to get some input from a fellow Absorb user. Following the release of their new Next Generation Learner Experience, have you run into any issues with course completion for Rise of SL courses? It's been a hit or miss lately with a plethora of courses. Some are completing automatically and others are not completing unless learners select the 'X' in the upper right corner to exit the course player. We have checked the SCORM settings for any courses that we've been having issues with and everything seems to be fine. I appreciate any of your thoughts on this!

    Hi Christina,

Fellow Absorb user here. We have run into a plethora of course completion issues with both Rise and SL courses. I have been back and forth with Absorb for nearly a year with no positive resolution. The issues seem to be intermittent with some learners having more difficulty than others. Have you noticed any trends in which type of device and/or operating system the learners who are having course completion issues are using?

    • Hello Cas,

Sorry to hear about the trouble with course completion. It's been a while, and Christina may no longer be subscribed to this discussion. Please feel free to contact her directly by clicking on the "Contact Me" link on her profile page.

I'd also like to share that the best LMS standard for recording completion and success statuses in your LMS is either xAPI or cmi5. If Absorb LMS does not support those standards, you can use SCORM 2004, 4th Edition, with the reporting option as Passed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed. You may refer to the articles below for details.

If you already have those settings but still encounter completion issues, we can try ruling out a problem with your courses. You may share the Storyline files here or privately in a support case. If you need to share your Rise courses, you can also do so via a support case.
