Hosting storyline on WIX through AWS

Is there a video, article, etc. for a step-by-step example of how to host a storyline project on Wix using AWS? I have searched and searched buy my google-fu has been weak on this.

  • Hi, Denise.

    I'm hoping others in the community with more experience using Wix.com can chime in, but in the meantime, here are some resources and suggestions:

    I did a quick test using Amazon S3 and a Wix.com free site. Those were my steps:

    1. From Storyline, publish the course to Web.
    2. Upload all the folders (unzipped) to Amazon S3.
    3. In Wix.com, go to Add to Site > Embed > Embed a site:Wix Website Editor 2021-09-21 at 10.44.57 AM
    4. Copy the URL for the story.html file you uploaded to Amazon S3 and paste it in the Wix.com field that pops up.

    Let me know if this helps!

  • Hi, I think I've followed through with this guide, but Wix doesn't seem to accept the URL. Can you point out exactly which URL it is that we should use? Seems to me that there's several options. Thank you for the guide and for your help.

        I am trying to do this as well and this is exactly what happens for me. The objects are already set to public for the bucket in Amazon S3, it still says access denied. Do you know what I would do to fix this?

  • Hi, Matt.

    Thank you for reaching out!

    Are you also using Amazon S3? The URL should be the one that points to the story.html file directly on their servers.

    Are you able to paste that same URL on a browser and view the content?

      I tried pasting the URL into the browser directly and it says...

      This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

      <Error>
      <link type="text/css" id="dark-mode" rel="stylesheet" href=""/>
      <Code>AccessDenied</Code>
      <Message>Access Denied</Message>
      <RequestId>XBJMB33SM33ZJ5DM</RequestId>
      <HostId>C7xCrkfHFYp7HhcGTRbSkwVKhrWJ0OBRtkgWXtzQR4x3WSMlcCrhbIn3A7lgewBrWTD63JVk7to=</HostId>
      </Error>
  • Thanks so much for a quick response! Yes, I tried different URLs from different parts of the page, and I am using AWS S3. Here's a quick snapshot attached. I tried the top browser URL and the URL object in the bottom right and neither seems to work. This is what I get in WIX as a response. also attached.

  • Hello Matt,

    Based on the error description, it looks like the permission of your files is currently set to private. Try making your files publicly accessible to see if this helps.
