How to create video that can be resumed from the last time when someone exit the course.
Hello Preesh!
Thank you for sharing your file! It looks like you have an embedded video on the slide and I'm assuming that you'd like the embedded video to pick up in the same spot when the user revisits that slide. Embedded videos, different from imported mp4 videos, can't be controlled by the timeline in Storyline 360 so it is tricky for the Storyline to know where to resume the video.
I'm hoping someone in the community has a workaround that would help you resume an embedded video! If you're looking to import an mp4, let me know and I'll be happy to help!

Also the video I have added in the slide is not Embedded one, this mp4 video added from the content library 360. I have used the "Resume save status" under slide setting and "prompt to resume option" under player setting. Still it is not resuming. Am I making any mistake.
Please guide me. Thank you very much for your kind support and guidance.- LaurenDuvall3 years agoStaff
Hi Preetesh!
I'm happy to help with the video that you've added from the Content Library! I created something similar in Storyline 360 and found that adding a "Save" button did the trick for me. I've created a quick tutorial explaining how I created it and tested it. Here's the tutorial link.
Please let me know if you have any follow up questions!

Hi Lauren! I definitely am looking for a solution to resume playback of a video that's imported (Insert > Video > Video from file...). My use case is strikingly similar to the OP, where I've got a 10 minute video on a slide (amongst other slides of differing types of content). If the user is interrupted on the video slide (e.g. at the 6 minute mark), I want the video to resume where they left off.
Currently I have the Slide properties set to: When revisiting: Resume saved state
...and the Player Properties > Other set to: Resume on restart > Always resume.Yet my video still restarts at 00:00 when I come back to the video slide. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I've attached a couple screen shots that illustrate the settings. I created a short "test" project to use while testing settings & troubleshooting behavior. THANKS!!

Hi Bill,
Happy to chime in!
It is important for a learner to interact and navigate away from the slide for Lauren's workaround to properly work. You mentioned that this didn't work for your learners when they were interrupted when viewing the slide, can I ask how did you test this on your end?
- Were your learners given a chance to interact with the slide before the interruption?
- Or was the interruption abrupt, causing the course window to immediately close?
Additionally, please share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a look at how it is configured. This will help us check if the slide with video is properly setup to resume right where learners are left off. We'll delete it when we're done testing!
