How to show the time of the video?
Hi heroes!!
Is there any way to show the time of the video?
Learners may want to know how long does it take to watch the video, and how much time did he watch.
Thanks!!

Hi Daniel,
The video control bar can only be placed below the video, so there's not a way to move it elsewhere. Is it possible to shrink the video to allow for additional space, so the captions don't cover the control bar?

I agree with Torre. The design of the video controls is not pretty. We've started just enabling the Seekbar for specific slides that have a video that aligns with the length of the timeline. It would be GREAT if a timestamp could be added to the Player Seekbar.
It does not seem like this should be a difficult improvement to implement.
Thanks!

Hi Kendra,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts here! This feature hasn't made it on our feature roadmap, but we're currently tracking requests for adding a timestamp to Storyline.
I've added you to the list of votes, and we'll share any new info in this thread. You're in the right place to hear any updates! Here's how we manage feature requests.

Please add me to the list of votes as well. In the time of "mini modules" and "bite-sized" learning, it seems Articulate would prioritize this feature. People like to monitor their time and progress through self-paced learning modules.

Likewise - please add my vote as well...Without a timer, it's impossible to provide timestamps so users can jump to review specific topics in a video. We've had to resort to including a PDF with screenshots (see attached), which is far less than ideal. It doesn't provide specific time, just a general idea.
Did a feature request ever get submitted for a video timer or are you just tracking people's comments and "votes"? If not, I'll create one.
 You got it, Keith.
I can confirm that we have the feature request AND we are tracking the users impacted.

After seeing many many comments/posts that request the same (even from up to 6 years ago), I'm here to be added to that list of users to request that feature (sent my own feature request just a couple of minutes ago). Me and our students would be forever grateful to have a seekbar-timestamp with elapsed time and overall time.
It would help so much with object animations directly on the slides and with jumping back and forth on a slide with audio and animations for example.

Hi, is there a way to show the controls of the video but the learner should not be able to fast forward the video.

Thanks for reaching out, Geethu!
How do you have the video inserted? You won't be able to restrict the controls through Storyline if the video is embedded.
You could, however, add a transparent shape or a hotspot over the web object for the duration of the slide so that the controls cannot be accessed, but then the user will not be able to replay the video if desired.
Feel free to share more details about how you have your video inserted, and we'll go from there!

Thank you for the link. However, the update does not address if you enable Close Captions, the captions are on top of the blue seekbar.

Hi Mary,
I'm sorry you're having this issue with the closed captions and the seek bar. I wasn't able to reproduce the issue you are having. Would you be willing to share your files here or reach out to our Support Engineers privately in a support case?
Thanks for reaching out!
