Hyperlinks and layers

Without seeing the slide it's only a guess. Here is how I understand you question:

• The main slide has some sort of trigger that shows a layer
• The layer has a hyperlink
• When clicking the hyperlink, it opens a new tab in the browser
• When you return the tab with the course in it, the layer is closed and the user sees only the base layer (main slide)

If that's correct, the layer should remain open. The first thing I'd determine is why is the layer is hiding (closing). My first guess is that there is a trigger or action that hides the slide layer.

I have a similar issue:

I have a base slide named 1.2 with two layers (Layer 1, Layer 2). Layer 2 of Slide 1.2 links to the base slide 1.3, which contains three layers (Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3). The entire course is designed with custom navigation buttons from my client's graphic line, where the 'back' button on slide base 1.3 should logically return me to Layer 2 of slide 1.2 because of the course's context and the order I've given it. Since I can't make it return to that Layer 2 of Slide 1.2, I must link it to base slide 1.2 instead, and the user, by default, must revisit the content of base slide 1.2 and its layers. What can I do?

It's correct that a trigger can only "jump to" a slide or scene. There's no trigger for jumping to a specific layer of a slide. 

However, if there's no trigger to close Layer 2 on Slide 1.2, and the Slide Properties are set to "Resume saved state" when revisiting, Layer 2 should still be showing when the user returns to that slide. 

Thank you very much, I finally solved it by leaving the slides linear, I didn't want to, but I had no choice. It would be good to develop this option of linking to a particular layer.

If you can identify all the conditions under which you want to return to the base with the layer open, you can do this pretty easily.  Create a variable and have the layer show when the timeline starts on the base slide if the conditions are met.
