Image without a caption

If you are using an image but don't want a caption under it, is there a way to get rid of the line under the image?

Thanks

    Hi Rosemary,

If you don't include a caption, although it will still be visible in Edit mode, the line should not appear when you preview the course. If you are still seeing the line, make sure that you haven't accidentally left a blank space in place of the caption.

If there is no caption in place, you should see the words "Add a Caption" in Edit mode. If the words aren't visible, place the cursor there and use the back space or delete key to remove any blank spaces, at which point the words should then appear.

Even if you don't add a caption you can't delete the spacing, right?

You can reduce the bottom padding of the image block.

  • Hi Will! Can you tell us more about what you're looking to do? Also, which image block type are you using?

Great question - same issue.  Block type is image full width - always has caption space underneath. I want this block to allign exactly with block underneath.  Padding is zero but still space exists.

      Hi Steven,

All image types have the caption area, even if you don't use it.

What is the block type right below the image full width block?

I know - and really annoying too.... Hence my question - Just wanting to know if anyone knows a trick to get rid of that caption line under images.

  • I'd love a solution to the same question. It would be great if we could have a full width image with no spacing below. It's messing with my feng shui :)

It would be great if we could have a full width image with no spacing below.

Here's a trick that Tom Kuhlmann has posted about: Insert the image in an Interactive>Labelled Graphic block. Then delete all the markers.

This is also frustrating when using an imagine with text on the right, as the image will always be somewhat smaller than the text. An option to remove the caption space would be a great addition!

      Hi,

It's important to note that there are differences between how an image Block caption area  is displayed while in Edit mode, and how an image block is displayed  Preview mode / once published.

      Edit mode

The Caption field and the line below the Caption field will always appear.

      Preview Mode / Published

If there is no text entered in the Caption field, in Preview Mode / Published, the Caption field and the line below the Caption field will NOT appear.

Thank you for your note, Karl!

I'd primarily like to get rid of the blank space that remains underneath the image in the preview / published mode when using the image with text option. The text block will often be larger than the image itself, which ends up looking a bit unbalanced. Ideally, the bottom of the text block would then align with the bottom of the image.

  • It blows my mind that you can't turn off the captions STILL and somebody asked this SEVEN YEARS AGO.... Have you guys seen MIGHTY? That has ALL of the mod cons that every user of RISE would want to see yet you are letting them get all the glory..

I have this exact problem where I have a block and then I have a line underneath it.. specifically whilst viewing the course on a mobile phone.

Even weirder, the line is BLUE? and I have no idea where it is pulling that from?!

Please up your game on these things that would make this software amazing! If Mighty can do it, you have absolutely no reason not to be able to!

      Hi DanEccleston-c1!

      Happy to assist!

I understand the ability to remove an image caption line, while editing in Rise 360, can be helpful. I've shared your feedback with our product team! We'll be sure to notify you if this enhancement makes it to our product roadmap.

      Also, you mentioned:

I have this exact problem where I have a block and then I have a line underneath it..specifically whilst viewing the course on a mobile phone.

This is not the expected behavior, and is due to a bug we are currently tracking in Rise 360. This bug causes a line to appear at the bottom padding of a Block, with a background image, when viewing the course on a mobile device. I've linked this discussion to the bug report, so we can notify you as soon as a fix is in place.

Thank you for your patience. I'm sorry if this has been slowing you down!
