Insert animation in course with transparent background.

Hello everybody,

I am working on a course within storyline 360 right now for which I created some really small animations in Adobe Animate CC which I would like to insert into slides of my course. Both exporting them as a movie or inserting them as a web object I don't manage to get them inserted without a background. I also would like to find out a way of inserting it without having to use flash in my course.

Does anybody have any suggestions for me? All help would be useful.

  • Hello Niek and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

FLV videos with alpha channel transparency are supported in Storyline 360's Flash and Articulate Mobile Player (AMP) output. This article showcases how the videos may be re-encoded based on the output you're using.

    Hello Leslie :)

If I look at the table in the link provided by you it says:

*Alpha channel transparency isn't supported in HTML5 output. As a result, FLV videos with alpha channels will be encoded as MP4 videos in HTML5 output.

Does this mean that transparency won't work if I publish the course to HTML5?

  • When viewing the HTML5 output, correct. You can include the HTML5 option when publishing and it should still display in Flash environments.

  • I realize this is an old thread, but as Flash has been sunsetted now, is this achievable with HTML5 as of 2021? I'm having issues getting videos with alpha channels to display with transparent backgrounds instead of black backgrounds.
