Inserting GIF files into Storyline
Hello!
I am working on an eLearning projext that requires a lot of GIF files from the client to be integrated into the learning.
While searching the forums I found several posts where people got help in making GIF files work and a few saying that GIF files need to be converted to SWF files.
Which is correct?
Can I insert a GIF file into Storyline? If so How?
If not - how can I convert the GIF to SWF?
Thanks

Hi Ashley,
I've already done the necessary settings.
In fact, my gif works perfectly fine in web browsers...
I've made another gif to make tests, but it doesn't work at all in Storyline, like the first gif I submit.
I can't understand why, because I followed exactly the same process. I'm a little lost here! Hi Laurine,
I did a bit more digging through some older forum threads, and found that a similar situation was reported to our QA team for review. At this time I don't have any updates to share in regards to that issue, but I've included this thread in the report with your sample gif that I was able to import into Storyline. The workaround that was shared with the other user who reported it is included below for you:
In the meantime, I suggest converting your GIF into a video as a workaround. Here's one method that you can try out.

Hi Ashley,
Okay then, nevermind!
I can't convert my Gif into AVI because of the transparent background.I'll use the workaround with the static image instead.
Anyway, thank you very much for your help. Sorry I couldn't offer more assistance, but I did add this thread to the QA report, so I'll keep you posted here in the thread with any updates.

Hi!
I am wondering if someone has faced this issue before...
I have an animated gif with a Zoom Picture setting (magnifying glass). When I preview, the animated gif is fine, but when I click to zoom, the zoomed image is static...
Any idea how I can solve this??Thanks in advance!
Hi Annie,
You may want to share an example of the GIF or .story file here so that folks could take a look at what you're seeing and how it's behaving and offer any advice.

Hi Ashley,
here is the slide from my project. When previewing, the last image is animated (the other three are static). But when zooming on this fourth image, the zoomed image is no longer animated...
Thanks!
HI Annie,
Thanks for sharing this here. I don't believe there is a way to override this behavior within Storyline, as the zoom is for images/pictures only and will stop the animation. Potentially someone in the community has a workaround to offer, or you may want to look at simulating the zoom behavior by showing a larger version of the animated Gif on a layer perhaps when clicking?

Hi Ashley,
Thanks for the prompt response. I am always amazed at how quickly someone responds when I post something :-)
I like the idea of simulating the zoom behavior. I don't have many animated Gifs to deal with, so this is an acceptable workaround.Cheers! Happy that will help you Annie and feel free to let us know if you need anything else.
