Interaction on Slide Layers

Hello Community!

I'm hoping someone can help me understand why the interactive buttons on my slide layers are not working.  This is what I want to have happen: The user selects the button to reveal a new layer. That new layer also has a button. The user selects the button and a different layer is revealed. This repeats four times. Currently, the button on the base layer works to reveal the next layer but the button on the next layer does not work. I've attached the file so perhaps someone can point out what I am doing wrong.

Thank you,

Jennifer

  • The trigger to show the Cam Stop Definition layer is attached to the "hard stop 1" Group—not to the hard stop 1 button.

Unsolicited advice: I think you're working too hard. This slide doesn't need layers, and it certainly doesn't need all the extra copies of the images and buttons that are on those layers.

The REVISED slide in the attached file presents the content from the base.

    • Some items have an Initial State of Hidden. Note that those appear dimmed when you're editing, but will appear correctly when previewed.
    • I entered the definition text directly into the shapes. (There's no need to use a shape and a text box.)

BTW, I also added triggers to control the Next button. Just delete them if you don't want to force the user to view all the content.

Thank you so much Judy! I knew I was making a mistake I could not see. And thank you for suggesting the change of states rather than layers. Yours is a much more elegant way to handle this interaction.

    Much appreciated!!

You're welcome! Pay it forward when you can.

BTW, the issue had me stumped for a while, because the "hard stop 1" name looked correct.

Notice that in my revised slide, I renamed the buttons and the shapes with the definitions. All the buttons start with "b[#]-" and the shapes start with "def[#]." That sort of naming convention helps with troubleshooting.
