Can anyone point me to good javascript document for dummies that would contain samples/examples around common Storyline javascript routines?

You could start with David Anderson's Using JavaScript and Articulate Storyline #132.
If you're looking to get on the ground level of JavaScript, W3Schools has its JavaScript Tutorial.
