When you're on the slide, if there are no interactive objects, you need to press the arrow keys to navigate through the items, and JAWS should read the object's name or alternative text. Take a look at the following article for additional information:

Hotspots, Text entry, and dropdowns are keyboard accessible. When using those types of interactions, it's a good idea to give learners instructions on what's expected of them through alt-text and meaningful labels. I hope this helps!
