Learner Link
I am currently exploring options to share some courses without the use of an LMS and I have been trying to test the webhosting option BUT this has proven to not be viable for our infrastructure. I am now wondering if sharing the PREVIEW link could work as the OP has noted. Im curious what differences I would see between the two, and to understand why Jose recommends the web publishing approach.
Ive noted that neither capture learner specific data, neither track completion or progress. What other differences should I consider in making this decision?
Hi KellyRipley,
Thanks for reaching out!
We recommend using a web server to share courses because the Rise 360 share link isn't designed to distribute courses to learners. You can easily host web-published Rise 360 courses using a hosting service like Amazon S3.
You're correct that web-published courses and Rise 360's share link don't track learner progress. If you need this information recorded, you'll need to use an LMS or a service like Reach 360.

Thank you for the very fast reply. I appreciate that the Preview link is not designed to share to learners, but my organization does not have the option to use hosting services like Amazon S3, nor do I have other means to use webhosting approach.
To that end, can you please share, beyond it not being INTENDED for this use case, what happens if I DO use the preview link to share my course to learners?

Hi KellyRipley,
The share links are designed for light sharing with Subject Matter Experts and other content reviewers. They are not intended to be used with learners or as a hosting solution for user content. Using the Share link for large-scale distribution to learners is a possible misuse of the Articulate 360 subscription, discussed in sections 2.6 to 2.7. Feel free to open a case with our support team here if you have any questions or need clarification about this policy!
You can also check out Reach 360, a possible solution to your hosting requirement. It integrates seamlessly with Storyline 360 and Rise 360 and should have no trouble getting permission to operate within your organization, as it is an Articulate 360 service.
