lock the Audio and video seebar in Rise course
Hi,
Is it possible to lock the seek bar of an Audio or Video file in Rise? Setting a section with a continue button only if the previous block was completed is fine, but a user can simply click ahead in the seek bar to quickly move it to the end where the continue button then becomes active, which defeats the objective to be honest?

I'm trying to lock my video so that they need to finish watching the video before continuing to the next slide in rise. Is this possible?
Hi Darren,
Yes, it is possible. You'll find the option to disable forward seeking in the block settings (see screenshot). You'll want to uncheck the box.
Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Thank you for the response. Yes, it works fine for a video, but for an audio media file there is no option to disable the forward seeking.
That's correct. Would you be up for logging a feature request to tell us more about your specific needs?
In the meantime, if there’s anything else I can do to help, please let me know!

I have seen MANY requests for the easy feature to lock the audio bar and NOT allow learners to skip through audio clips. This was 6 years ago... and I've seen it requested every year. Video can be locked, but not audio? WHY? Articulate can come out with extensive features, but can't simply add this feature to Rise 360? The community is frustrated with this one. PLEASE add this feature immediately! We need to be able to lock the audio file so no skipping ahead is allowed!

I know it's less than ideal, but if it's important that forward seeking be disabled, you may consider converting your audio into some simple videos. Could be small frame size, black video, etc.

can this be a feature like for video, same can be added for seek bar restriction and closed caption option?
HI SibaPrasad! We're tracking requests for disabling forward seeking for Audio blocks. I'll add you to that list and make sure to let you know if we have any updates for it!
Regarding Closed Captioning for Audio block, since this is an audio-only element, usually the visual part is created by authors creating a Text block with the audio transcription to assist with accessibility. Another way is to put the audio in a video and have the Closed Captioning play in that manner.- SibaPrasadPadhiCommunity Member
Its better to provide a learner flexibility to access the audio script as closed caption/ transcript as integral part of the audio block. Can we have a + sign in the transcript text input box like in a Accordion block , so that the user don't have to go for another block to click and at the same time the audio seekbar can be locked so that the user can go through it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this, SibaPrasad! We'll let you know here if Closed Captioning (CC) for Audio blocks becomes available in Rise.

Hi Mary, you can use a continue block if you want to make sure your learners complete your video before they can click on the exit button. Here’s how. Make sure you select Complete Block directly above or Complete All Blocks Above for the completion type.

Hi Caryl!
Aside from adding a Continue button to Complete the Block above, you need to disable the Allow Forward Seeking option, to be sure learners watch the full video. You can navigate to this setting by clicking on Edit on the left side of the video and then going to Settings.

Hi all,
For an audio file there is no option to disable the forward seeking?
Hello Mahesh Kumar Revanna,
Yes, you are correct. Forward-seeking can only be disabled for videos, not audio files. We'll let you know when this behavior changes for Rise 360 audio blocks!
