Markers - State Change Not Viewing Properly
Hi, MeganYoung-3950!
I see you've connected with my teammate, Lianne, in a support case. You can continue troubleshooting there to keep all information in one place.
If anyone else is experiencing a similar issue, you can try deleting the marker and creating a new one to see if that resolves the problem. If not, please reach out to our team here or privately in a support case!
Hello! This has been an issue for 10 years, it looks like! Is this something you will ever fix? Deleting the visited state and recreating it does not do the trick and saving the icon as an image is a great workaround, but shouldn't be the permanent fix. Can you please explain why it hasn't been fixed after 10 years? Is there something fundamentally wrong that can't be fixed? Thanks!

Hello ShelaBlock,
Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. We're still tracking the bug that causes marker icon colors to not change when the object changes state. I've updated the report to include your feedback, and we'll leave a message here as soon as it is fixed. One workaround that seems to work is to use auto-generated formatting marker styles. I'll be glad to test this workaround using your project file if you're willing to share it with us!

Thanks for your reply, Jose. Can you please share a more meaningful update? Saying that you're "still tracking the bug" after ten years gives little insight. Can you please shed some light on why it hasn't been fixed and what the struggle is?
I can share a project file, but can you please explain what "auto-generated formatting marker styles" is first, so I can try it myself and other people coming across this thread will have the steps as well?- StevenBenassi6 months agoStaff
Hi ShelaBlock!
Glad to see my teammate Joe has been helping you!
Our goal is never to neglect a critical bug, or leave our authors stuck in their development. The voices of affected users are consistently being heard and shared with product managers. The development team follows an order of priority, with the most impactful issues being addressed first.
We approach each issue with consideration of how the implementation of a fix would impact other areas of Storyline's architecture. Occasionally, this process requires more thorough collaboration across multiple teams. For your reference, this article goes into further detail on how we tackle bugs.
Also, the workaround Joe shared involves using Theme Colors to automatically apply color changes to the Markers, instead of formatting those changes on the Slide/State-level. If you're comfortable sharing your .story file, we'd be happy to help you set that up!
