Shrinking Story View?

Hi! Is anyone else having this issue? It seems so minor, but it is really frustrating. I work on a scene. I click to Story View and the scenes are pencil-thin and it is nearly impossible to click on a slide to open it. I usually have to shut down Storyline and open it back up again.

  • There is a bug in story view, a quick work around is to create a new scene and then when it shrinks again delete it

      Hi TamaraCraft-62f,

Thanks so much for reaching out about this!

I'm glad to see Phil was able to provide you with a workaround. Are you comfortable sharing your file with our team so we can take a closer look at what's going on? You can upload it here or privately in a support case, and we'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.

  • Hello Kelly,

Unfortunately, this is not one I can share outside the org. Perhaps another user could share theirs?

No worries, TamaraCraft-62f! I see that our team has this behavior logged as a bug (thanks to PhilMayor!) and is currently determining how we are prioritizing a fix. I don't have a timeline to share but when we do, we'll be sure to update this thread!

  • I have shown this happening on a live recording with Articulate staff and shared the file.

  • Happens to me all the time. not sure what you mean by create a new scene. I have numerous scenes which all shrink. delete them all?

      Hey Leslie,

No need to delete any of your existing work. The idea is to create a sacrificial scene to wake the Story View up.

So, "Right-click" in the empty space when in Story View and select 'New Scene'. The action of creating this scene "snaps" the story view back into the correct format. You can then just delete the newly created scene. Annoying and bizarre, but seems to work until they fix it 😅

        Hi,

thanks so much for explaining this I was a little confused. Fingers crossed it works yesterday was  free for all with Story view!

  • Not difficult, create a new scene and then everything goes back to normal, when it shrinks again delete the new scene and then rinse and repeat.

  • If you are in Story view and the slide view has shrunk, and you have any scenes that are open in tabs next to Story view, click on an open scene and go back to slide view. Then, click back on Story view and you should see that the slide view has increased in size.
