Hey Mark!
You can turn off the label. When you add the marker, while the marker is selected, click on the button on the ribbon that says "label" -- it's not the most obvious, but that turns the label on and off:

Thanks StevenBenassi! I considered selecting the audio box, but then went with the formatting option. I am using the marker on a standard slide that has a screen recording and treating it as a "step number" for a multi-step process. In this instance, there is no need for any text. The narration and screen recording will do the heavy lifting. 🙂
