Matching drop-down accessibility issues

Hi everyone,

After testing a drop-down exercise for accessibility, the reviewers sent me the following comment:

The drop down boxes do not announce an accessible label upon receiving Tab focus. Additionally drop down boxes do not announce selected value when receiving PC cursor focus.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I believe that the focus order is correct. I attached the file.

  • Hello ToniaHartofylak

Thanks so much for reaching out and sharing your file with us! I'm sorry to hear they ran into that snag. Your reviewer's behavior is related to a bug in which the screen reader does not announce the label and selected value in a Drop-down graded question.

    • Do you know what screen reader and browser your reviewer was using? I'll be happy to log that information in our bug report.

I have notified our team of this behavior. We'll be sure to share any updates in this thread about a fix so everyone is in the loop!

  • Hello, I am currently working on an RGAA module with a drop-down exercise. I'm facing the same problem: it is not being read by my NVDA screen reader. Is this exercise RGAA-compliant, please?

      Hello GuildharyGerald

      Thanks for reaching out!

I want to confirm that RGAA is based on WCAG guidelines, so you can create a course that meets WCAG 2.1 AA conformance

Since we are still investigating this related bug with screen readers not announcing the Drop-Down Question Selections, perhaps using a different question type until we provide a fix will be of help!

As I mentioned to ToniaHartofylak, we'll update this thread when we have news of a fix so everyone is in the loop.

      Have a wonderful weekend!
