Accessibility issue with Matching Interaction

Update: I have reported this as an issue. Case #00996648

When a user has answer a Matching style interaction, they are presented with the text feedback, as well as with icons indicating which responses are correct/incorrect. A non-visually impaired use would be able to use this feedback to determine which responses they have answered correct/incorrectly.

This visual information is not available to screen reader users as it has not been provided programmatically. Therefore users using a screen reader to access the content will only receive the text feedback defined by the user.

This means that non-visually impaired users have an advantage through visual feedback, over visually impaired users.

This could be done by appending a "Correct" or "Incorrect" to each of the labels in the right hand column.

  • Hi SamHill,

Good call on opening a case, and thanks for sharing ways you think the accessibility of Rise 360 can be improved. I can see Mick has already opened a feature request on your behalf. Let us know if you have any more suggestions or recommendations you'd like to share!

  • FYI, there is accessible text for screen readers that reads which answers the user made and informs the user of the correct vs incorrect responses. I've closed this of and a feature request has been made to improve the accessibility.

  • I can't find the right words to explain to our learners how to use this new format - What I have is clunky - "Select the matching number from the drop-down menu on the right-hand side answers to match the correct choice on the left hand side" - has anyone else found a better way to explain to those users who a bit are tentative and do just have a click around - Thanks :-)

Something like this maybe? Changing description and statement labels to match the question.

Match each description on the right with the corresponding statement on the left by selecting the appropriate number from the drop-down list next to each description.
