Matching Drop Down Question - not 508/accesibility compliance?
Hi there, I have just updated to version 3.36. and tested. The screen reader (JAWS and NVDA) read the dropdown menu list, however, once tabbed to the combo dropdown menu, it doesn't read each choice text.
Does anyone know how to let it read like:
Read choice 1 text, then tab to combo dropdown menu, then select an item,
Read choice 2 text, then tab to combo dropdown menu, then select an item.
Again, the screen reader read this way by using down arrow key or Ctrl+down arrow. BUT once use tab to select the combo dropdown menu, you can no longer make the screen reader read the text of the choices.
Hope there is an answer... Thanks!
Hello!
I was wondering if you were ever able to resolve this issue of having NVDA (Or JAWS) read the question in the proper order:
- Read "Choice 1 text (question)" and then navigate to the "combo dropdown menu 1" to select the first answer
- Then read "Choice 2 text (question)" and then navigate to the "combo dropdown menu 2" to select the second answer
Every combo box reads out the same in NVDA, so how could someone who can't visually read the text and see the screen arrangement be able to tell the combo boxes apart? How would they know which combo box goes with which question?
As of right now, I can't figure out how to use this question type in my quiz. Any ideas?
(I can't share my SL file as it's a work file, but I attached a little snap of an example slide layout)
Thanks for any help!!

Hi Jillian!
Thanks for reaching out! I wanted to share that after testing this out, we found that NVDA is working as it should. You might need to modify your NVDA settings to toggle from Focus mode to Browse mode. JAWS automatically switches from Focus mode to Browse mode so no need to make any changes there.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
