Media Library Editing Problem

Steps I followed to test this issue:

View Media Library > Images > Clicked on a PNG that was exported from Illustrator > Clicked Edit Icon > Clicked Adobe Illustrator 2021 > PNG opened in Illustrator.

This way of editing wouldn't be helpful in my workflow. I work on simulations where I have to recreate entire computer screens. I manually replace sensitive information with logical fake data for privacy reasons.

I always keep the *.ai file open on another monitor. I edit my image in Illustrator > Export the Artboard > Save for Web > Optimize Type or Art (as needed) > and scale it up to the exact size needed. Then I select the old image in Storyline > Format Picture > Replace Picture > Picture from File > Folder where saved.
