Microphone Static in playback

Hello community! I'm using an external mic, recording in a closet and recording directly into the Rise 360 program. Occasionally, there is a lot of popping and static in the playback. I've done it with and without the external mic, on my computers voice recorder and uploaded AND gotten a new computer thinking it was my USB connection. I'm still getting it, what do I do?
