Moodle tracking of Scorm package

We are in the process of uploading Scorm packages to Moodle. We are wanting to upload the course as one file with the built-in player menu to show the learner where they are as they move through the course. We have the tracking options set for complete or incomplete based on the total number of slides viewed in the course. We are running into some issues where Moodle is not showing the learners progress through the course if they stop partway. Is there anyway for the Scorm to send this information to Moodle so it can track the percentage of the course that the learner has completed? If we upload the course into multiple smaller lessons, it seems that Moodle will track the progress but not when it is a single file.  We have managed to change the settings so that Moodle saves where the learner is up to, and they can come back to that slide, but it is not showing the percentage of progress.
