Multiple dropdowns graded quiz

Hi, I have an exam that needs to have multiple drop down selections per question. I have an example that I have built many years ago in Lectora. Now that we are only using Articulate Storyline, I need to try replicate this. I have attached a screenshot below of what I need to achieve. I am hoping I may get some helpful guidance on this.

Many thanks and appreciation in advance.

  • Hi CiaranWhelan-2a,

You can replicate this interaction using text variables, states, layers, and triggers:

How to create the dropdown selections:

    1. When the user clicks the dropdown list, display a related layer containing the options.
    2. On that layer, set the corresponding variable to match the selected option, then hide the layer.
    3. Use a trigger to update the state of the dropdown rectangle based on the variable's value when it changes.

How to identify the interaction as a quiz:

    1. Convert the slide into a Text Entry Freeform Question.
    2. Place the text entry field outside the slide frame so users won’t see it, but the system will still register it.
    3. Set the text entry to a correct value (e.g., 1) when all dropdown selections are in their correct states. Otherwise, set it to an incorrect value (e.g., 0) upon submission.
