Changing size of a matching dropdown

Hi everyone,

I'm creating matching dropdown questions that have long sentences as answers.
Is there a way of changing the size of the dropdown boxes for the text to fit, instead of having to shrink the size of the text? I've been looking at all the settings I could think of, but I can't find anything, anywhere.

I really don't want to have to build a custom dropdown because of this minor issue, so I'm hoping I'm just missing a setting or something like that.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

  • Update:  I am not sure which part of this approach was the key, but I was able to resolve this issue after shutting down and restarting Storyline.  The problem was still apparent upon restart, but adjusting the Format Shape/Text Box Autofit settings after restarting (although not before) caused the dropdown widgets to snap to a new width.

So if you encounter this issue, try restarting, then selecting one of the objects that are part of the matching dropdown group and then changing the autofit selection.

  • Unfortunately, the matching-question slides don't have options for controlling the size of the text boxes.

Thanks Judy! I think what I'll do is swap the options around, so I have the longer text as the choice and the one word it falls under as a match

    Hello -

I'm encountering this issue as well, and I understand that it is not possible to customize the dropdown length, but I've put the 'short' (one word) answer in the dropdown side of the question and the formatting is still not adjusting to accommodate a 14 letter word in 12 pt font without wrapping.  There is MORE than enough space on the line for the dropdown to be wider - in fact it is ludicrously short (only 10 letters) and I cannot find a way to coax the slide layout to adjust. Any suggestions appreciated.
