Multiple Subtitle Languages for a Single Video in Storyline 360

Hi everyone,

I'm creating a Storyline 360 course that contains a video with a single audio track (English). I'd like learners to be able to choose their preferred subtitle language (e.g., English, German, French, Italian, Spanish) while watching the same video.

From what I've found, Storyline only allows one VTT caption file per video. Is there a way to provide multiple subtitle languages for a single video and let learners switch between them?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

BR,
Tamara

  • Hi, TamaraW! Thanks for your question.

At the moment, Storyline 360 supports a single closed caption (VTT) file for each audio or video file, so there isn't a built-in way for learners to switch between multiple subtitle languages while watching the same video.

Are you using Articulate Localization for this project, or are you looking to let learners choose their preferred subtitle language independently while watching the same video?

If it's the latter, I'd love to learn a little more about your workflow. How are you supporting multiple subtitle languages today, and what's the biggest challenge with your current approach?

Learning more about your workflow helps us better understand where a capability like this would have the greatest impact.
