Multiple timelines on single slide?

Unless I am missing something, it seems this would be easier as different slides, rather than layers on a single slide. A true/false variable on each slide could let you track how many slides had been seen, then unlock the navigation when all are true.
A master slide configured with the navigation arrows would provide the same benefit of the base slide being seen along with all of the layers.

I also question why the layers are timed to auto-advance. We all read at different speeds, and a basic tenet of adult-learning theory is that learners want control. Which means that most learners want to change the layer/slide when they are good and ready.
