Navigation Tabs on Layers

Hello!

Trying to make a course accessible I have identified which elements should be "visible" so a  learner can tab to where they want to go. But there are two issues I cannot find solutions for in the discussions/tutorials:

1. Is there a way to turn off tabs that are on the base layer so they are not visible on the layer slides, or, can I custom navigational tabs for layers? Currently on a layer, the learner needs to tap all of the tabs that show up on the base layer so one sees yellow shapes that mean nothing on the layer.

2. Can I turn off navigational tabs on the Player? If a learner is viewing the course and tabbing through it can be annoying to have to tab from Menu to Notes to Resources.

Thanks for your ideas.  Don

    Hey Folks,

I just saw a new project my wife is working on and she showed me the changes your team has made. The yellow outlines of slides on the base layer no longer show up on the other layers, and, the tabbing function works much better, allowing the person to tab to the next slide without going through all of the 'function' tabs (i.e. 'Menu', 'Resources',...) making it easier for people who need to tab. Two very responsive changes - Thanks!.

    Hello Again,

I have been happy with changes (see comment above) but have a new wrinkle: A project created in an older version of SL still has this tabbing issue where, when on a layer, the outline of the active button or rectangle of the base layer shows through in a yellow outline. Is there a way to update the version this project is in so this issue no longer occurs? And, how does one tell which version of SL a project is developed in?

    Thanks

  • Hi Don!

I'm happy to step in! First, can you check the layer properties to determine if the "Hide objects on base layer" is checked?

It looks like an object on the base layer might be highlighted so we'll want to make sure that setting is checked.

If you have this setting checked, I'll be happy to take a look at the file to determine which version it was created with. Would you mind attaching it to this discussion?

    Hey Lauren,

This does work. It's not optimal as I'd like as much of the original material to show as I can but this does solve some visual confusion. Thank you.

  • Hello everyone!

In case anyone is still running into this issue, I wanted to share that we are not seeing this bug, Yellow accessibility box from an object in the base layer is visible even when a slide layer is shown, in the latest version of Storyline 360.

If you're noticing the yellow accessibility box appears on the base layer when a slide layer is shown, please make sure you're using Storyline 360 (Build 3.61.27106.0) or later.

Don't hesitate to reach out in this discussion or in a support case if you have additional questions!
