Need help with a template
I've got my master slides saved as a .template file. Now I don't know how to pull these slide masters into new projects to use. What steps do I need to take so that this set of master slides is available for myself and my team to use on new projects going forward?
Hello JBayne!
Thanks for reaching out! If I understand correctly, you've created a custom Slide Master in one project and want it available in new Storyline 360 projects. Here's how:
- Open the project where you created the slide master.
- Switch to Slide Master view.
- In the left panel, select the Slide Master you want to keep.
- Go to the Slide Master tab on the ribbon and click Preserve. You can also right-click the Slide Master and select Preserve Master.
I would also like to share this helpful Guest Webinar on Slide Masters to create custom course menus that could provide some inspiration!
If you were looking for something different or had any questions, we'd be happy to take a closer look at your .story file in a support case!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Inside your local Documents folder is a My Articulate Projects folder, and inside of that is a folder called Storyline Templates. That would be the easiest way to permanently expose Storyline to the template each time it runs.

Thanks, Andrew, that is where the file is saved. How do I get the Slide Masters out of the template into new projects? When I click View Slide Master, I don't see the one I created.

Also, when I import the slides from the template, none of the work I did in naming all the slide elements in Master View carry over. Do I simply open the template each time and resave into a project to get the Slide Master elements to come across?
