New Rise Feature: Export as PDF
Today we released a new feature in Rise that I think you’ll appreciate—especially those of you who work in highly regulated industries! Now you can export your Rise courses as PDF files for easy printing and meeting regulatory requirements.

Is the export to PDF feature available to learners directly? Or is it something the content authors can do and attach a printable PDF in the course?

It isn't a feature that the learner can use, it's something that the developer creates.

Great - it makes so much sense to provide a downloadable PDF to learners rather than having it as a default option for them. Will be a great feature for our internal development/review processes too to share a copy with the stakeholders. Cheers!

I’ve made the PDF available to learners by simply adding a block lesson “download course” and inserting the PDF as a “multimedia” file attachment.

As soon as I read the post, I planned to do the same. This feature is so great.
Hi Diane,
Thanks! This PDF and link to the course help and make a lot more sense! Am I correct in noting that the markers are gone after lesson 8, but that the images and text contained in the markers are still appearing in your PDF?
Have you noticed this only on this course, or any courses with more than a handful of labeled graphics in them? Also, in case it may be browser specific, can you let me know what browser(s) you're using to Export to PDF?

This made my day. You guys rock.
Hi Diane,
Can you try exporting again? We had a release to Rise moments ago that should have fixed this up!

I tried to export two different courses. In both cases, the export never completes. All I get is the spinning progress indicator.

Hi Michael
It's working - I just tested with a 24 Lesson Rise course and it took 25 seconds to export (34MB).
Hi Michael,
Do you have a lot of images in your course? I know I ran into a similar issue last week, that our team is looking into, where a course which had upwards of 30 high quality, detailed images and it would freeze the export to PDF.
If you think that matches what you're seeing, let me know and I can send details on how to share your Rise course with me to confirm.

Yes, the two courses I exported had about 70 pics each. I don't really need the pdf output. I just wanted to try it out and it didn't work as expected.
