Today we released a new feature in Rise that I think you’ll appreciate—especially those of you who work in highly regulated industries! Now you can export your Rise courses as PDF files for easy printing and meeting regulatory requirements. Watch this quick video to learn more:

I’ve made the PDF available to learners by simply adding a block lesson “download course” and inserting the PDF as a “multimedia” file attachment.

Helpful, but less so since collaborators still cannot export ANYTHING...only the Rise course owner can currently perform an export. We need more granular control so the course owner can authorize collaborators (globally and/or individual course) to do certain tasks (e.g., export to LMS, web, PDF; post to Review, send Share link, etc.). Let the course owner (rather than Articulate) decide how course workflow should be handled!

Really pleased you've introduced this feature. Thanks so much! One suggestion for future improvement is to include the feedback for any multiple choice / multiple response questions, as the PDF version doesn't appear to give an indication of the correct answer(s) nor the feedback given. But otherwise, it's great.

Thanks for clarifying, Ashley. I can see why the correct answers and feedback aren't included if the target audience is the learner. But sometimes our stakeholders want a printed copy as part of the development process, and so it would be helpful if we could choose to include the feedback answers when exporting to PDF.

Hi Ann and Christine, When you export a Rise to PDF, there are certain changes we have to make for interactivity. They're detailed here: Here’s how the interactive parts of your Rise course appear in the PDF file: Hyperlinks work as expected and launch in your default web browser. Audio clips, videos, and web objects become static placeholder images. Interactions, such as labeled graphics and tabs, become a series of screenshots, one for each item in the interaction. (Each flashcard becomes two screenshots, one for the front and another for the back.) A Storyline block becomes a screenshot of the first slide in the project. Quiz lessons and knowledge check blocks display questions and answer choices. They don’t show correct/incorrect responses or feedback statements. The issue that Sumi mentioned was something our team also spotted last night where the Next function to another lesson was missing, and it was fixed up! Let us know if you're still spotting it!

  Hi Dhiraj! Did you want your users to be able to download a PDF copy of the course as well?
  
  You can do that by exporting your Rise 360 course as a PDF and then adding an Attachment block to your Rise 360 course and uploading the exported PDF file.
  
  This way, your users will be able to download a copy of the course they just took.

When exporting to PDF, the recent modifications( last few updates that I made in the content ) are not getting reflected. Why is this?

  Hi Teena! So sorry to hear that when you export to PDF, your modifications are not reflected in your PDF output.
  
  Please try this: Update your browser, clear cache, and log back in. Then try to Publish to PDF.
  
  If this does not work, please open a case with us here, so that one of our technical support engineers can look into it.

Thanks! What if I have videos in my Rise course? Will they be able to play in the pdf format? I noticed that when I upload a mp4, it doesn't show up. If I upload code, it seemed to play. Can you verify? Thanks!

  Hi Anna! If you added an .mp4 video to your course, it will show as a static image. If you used Multimedia>Embed there will be a clickable link in the PDF. Hope this helps!

I added a lightbox interactive created in Storyline 360 as an interactive block to a Rise course. On the Rise course, all the slides of the lightbox interactive are displayed. However, when I export the content as a pdf, none of the lightbox content is on the pdf. It only displays the first slide of the lightbox interactive.

Is there a way to export the pdf with all the content within the lightbox block? Thanks!

  Hi there, Aarthi. When exporting to PDF, your Storyline interactions with many slides or interactive elements will not be displayed. Your best bet is to also export the Storyline 360 file for Word and add those visuals to your PDF.

Here for the comments but TLDR... Gonna guess no changes to any of the wants above? Has anyone actually added any as a feature request? I never know whether comments people (or I) post like, I would love to have xyz get captured by staff as feature reqs? Or that only happens if a user like me submits one formally?

Anyway, given all the page break heartache, page #s people that want quiz answers displayed and not, etc. I think grabbing pages with Snag it scrolling captures might be another option. Drop them into Word/G Docs, If you need interactive elements too, drop those in there too. Time consuming but... Any other fresh ideas?

is there a way to print the whole Rise course but together with the comments from the Review section? I know we can print them separately, but my question is if it will be possible to print them together.

  Hi Boyan. That's right! You can export your course and Review comments separately. There isn't an option in Rise to export this together. I'll leave this discussion open for other community members to chime in with their suggestions!

Do you have any features/recomendations that allow you to optimize your course for pdf?

Like remove audio clips? or put links to online i their place
ensuring photos do not get clipped between two pages?
etc.

Hi Rich,

You shared some good options! Those will be your best course of action, since Rise 360 cannot control how web content renders when converting it to print.
