Open ended questions in Rise
Hello,
I am considering Rise to build a Leadership training course. One of the requirements is to have fill-in-the-blank questions that are open ended i.e. there is no correct or incorrect answers defined. I tried keeping the Acceptable Answers field blank, but that did not work. Does anyone know if this is possible at all in Rise? That is, can users submit their answers (no word limit) without being told whether their responses are correct/incorrect?

Hello, Anja!
An "Acceptable responses:" label appears below the learner's response. If you remove the "Acceptable responses" label, only the colon ":" will remain.

thanks for the reply Alyssa:
I removed the text on purpose because in this course we don't want the text 'acceptable answers as a standard reply. We don't want any reply. So that's why we are looking for a solution to remove the colon :
Thanks, Anja. While there isn't a way to remove the colon right now, I appreciate you letting us know you need that option!

Yes, I'd love this functionality too. We are increasingly using tools like Typeform to deliver courses because they easily allow these open ended questions.

Hi,
I am also interested in learning how you can accept all open-ended questions. Thanks so much :) - MarkRash865Community Member
I'm disappointed to find this is still not an option. It is quite common to ask learners reflection questions right inside the module without wanting to capture their responses or offer feedback. Removing the text label on the accepted responses is a start, but then it leaves the strange colon there. Please just give us the option for open-ended questions without feedback (or with the option to just provide general feedback, not correct/incorrect).
It's possible to embed a Storyline essay question, but then it can't be enforced in Rise. I want them to answer something even though I don't plan to grade or capture the response. Embedding a third party tool for this just isn't very streamlined.

This is a serious limitation.

Hi there, any updates on this? I see there are a lot of people requesting this feature.

I'll add my voice here. This is my first time building a course and I really need an open-ended response option! Rise should be more powerful than Google Forms or Nearpod.

This has been a request for over 3 years. Why are Articulate so unresponsive to user requests? Every time I have an issue with RISE I find many others have the same issues and a request has been made to add the functionality, yet none of the easy wins ever seem to get implemented.
I simply want the ability to ask a Short answer question and provide feedback WITHOUT the Correct or Incorrect image. This will be a very quick fix.. simply add this option to the Feedback selector and hide the image on the page. It will take minutes to code!
Why can't these things get sorted. I am VERY frustrated with Articulate's inability to listen to its users. We are seriously looking at alternatives to RISE, due to so many very minor annoyances that could be fixed easily. What are the road-map team doing?
I'm a very frustrated user!
