Opening hyperlinks/buttons from Storyline with a keyboard

Hi - can anyone help? I need people to be able to navigate through my courses without using a mouse, but hyperlinks from text do not open when I tab to them and press space - the only way to open them is by left clicking with a mouse.

I also have navigation buttons which usually work when operated with a keyboard but sometimes randomly stop working - the only way I have found to correct it is to delete the button and reinsert it, but it's very annoying and I have to test every button every time I republish to see if any of them have stopped working - any idea what is happening?

  • Hello Rebecca!

I'm happy to help! Try using the Enter key to select the hyperlink rather than the SPACE bar.

If that doesn't do the trick, do you mind sharing the .story file with us? You can attach it to this public discussion or upload it privately in a support case.

Thanks Lauren, the enter option works! I wonder if it will also work on my faulty buttons? Is there a handy guide to keyboard navigation buttons in Articulate anywhere?

        Hi Rebecca!

These shortcuts aren’t specific to Storyline 360 but are the default when using the keyboard for anything. This is a great resource that explains the purpose of the standard keyboard shortcuts — I hope this helps!
