Ownership of Rise Courses
As I read down through this chain, I see many others are experiencing some of the same issues we are experiencing. We have a Team license and use it to its capacity to collaboratively build lessons but are having a major issue with the management of the lessons once they have been built. We have instructional technology specialists who use their accounts to build the Rise lessons based on materials submitted by the Subject Matter Experts. Once there work has been completed, they transfer the lessons to me where I review, finalize, and publish to our internal server. We then have Curriculum Specialists who will work with Course Leads to make future edits to the newly created lessons as needed. The Curriculum Specialists receive requests to fix the lessons and are then added as collaborators. We want a full-time staff member to have ownership of all the lessons, so as it is now, a double transfer of the lesson must occur for the changes to be updated on the server.
We really need the ability to have 2 owners per lesson. That way the Curriculum Specialists could update the lessons and publish them immediately rather than losing additional time in the transferring lessons back and forth.
I saw someone had mentioned creating a generic account for them all to be stored in. Upon initial thought, that idea does not sound so bad, however, that still creates a transfer issue. According to what we have read in the Terms of Service, a generic account, even with a Teams subscription, would be a violation of the Terms of Service. Whether it is a violation or not, you would still have the issue of needing to transfer the lessons out of the generic account to the Curriculum specialist account to edit and publish and then would have to transfer them back to the generic account.
Again, the best case scenario would be to add the ability to have two owners per lesson. Really, the only two settings the second owner would need would be the ability to set the lesson up in Review and the ability to Export the lesson.
The comment thread for this goes back almost a year, so I really hope this is on the radar to be addressed sometime very soon!
Thank you,
Chris Smith
