Ownership of Rise Courses
Hi all,
We understand how important it is to simplify how training teams work together. It’s top of mind for us as we work on new Rise features. And, I will make sure your feedback gets to our product team.
Right now you have a couple options when it comes to sharing a course with a coworker.
- You can share a copy of the course.
OR
- You can transfer ownership of the course.
Both options will allow you to export the course as needed.
We have a feature request logged to allow collaborators to publish courses alongside the owner. I don’t have any timelines on this feature, but we’ll update here when we do.
Martika,
I appreciate the response to the thread and the update. I hope that there
will continue to be a focus on addressing this issue. While the two options
you shared do provide some initial solutions for the problem, they really
are not optimal for most "team" type situations. The first option does not
work. It is kind of like back in the day before Google Drive and other
cloud-based Web 2.0 collaborative tools where one would create a Microsoft
Word document, attach it to an email, and send it out to co-workers. If the
attachment was sent to me, I could make changes and updated it but those
changes would not be seen by everyone else on the team. This could lead to
multiple versions of the same object floating around which would really
complicate things.
The second option is better. Yes, the capacity is there for all
collaborators to be able to simultaneously make edits to the learning
objects, however, if the one person who is the owner is not able to come to
work for a period of time or is no longer with the company, then the
updated lessons cannot be published.
There really does need to be a way for multiple people to edit and export
content instead of only allowing one person to do so.
Thank you,
Chris Smith
