PDF file linked as Resource on Storyline3 not launching

The PDF file was linked as a resource and in some instances this play once published, but other instances it only opens an IE windows, the e-learning courses is run from Firefox.  Also in some instance when 4 files is linked as resource, two will open while the other two not.

Anyone with similar issue or have an explanation on why this happens?

  • Hi Magda!

Thanks so much for reaching out. I understand how frustrating it is not to have your PDF File display correctly.

In order to better understand, I have a few questions:

    1. What kind of file types are your resources? ( ex. are they all PDF files, or do you have a combination of file types).
    2. Are you experiencing this behavior if you attempt to attach the resources in a new .story file and publish?
    3. What LMS are you currently using?

The behavior that you’re experiencing could be related to the current browser settings in Firefox, but just to confirm, would it be possible for you to upload a copy of your project file here or privately in a support case?

    Hi Luciana,

Further to Carel feedback above, the problem is not when loading the pdf, we have tested with a few cases and the setup on storyline works fine - the problem comes in when this is played as part of the learning intervention.  So for example if they load 2 pdf files as resources, the file will show on the list and they will be able to open one file but if they click the 2nd file to view it will open a window but not display the pdf.  In one instance where they had the issue I reloaded (the same file they used) and just republished and scormed their storyline and the file worked without any issue.

This is not for every file - only some files - when they build their scorm package and test it as a standalone the file can be viewed but as soon as they run this as e-learning the above can happen.

They are making use of Smart Learning Hub LMS (I am the support person for the LMS)

    Regards

    Magda
