To extend Judy's and Chris's great answers, the next level up for creating adaptive content typically requires leveraging Storyline and/or JavaScript with Rise's custom code blocks. User input can be saved to a browser's localstorage, and then retrieved later in the course to alter a second code block or Storyline block. Not everyone has Storyline though, and JavaScript can be finicky to those not used to it. Both Storyline and JavaScript together can be really powerful but they can also increase the development time and complexity. If those aren't on the table, the branching that the others mentioned is likely your best bet.
