Pixulated Video

Hello Community,

I've been asked to import a Teams recording into a Storyline course.  The recording looks okay in Teams and video editing software, but when it is imported into SL it becomes pixulated.

Does anyone have any tips for this?  I  haven't published it, but it looks pixulated in Review.

Any advice appreciated.

  • Check the frame rate of the video...as it might be too low and that could cause it. Also check the size. and ensure SL doesnot scale it up...as that causes pixelation too.

Thank you, I have gone back to the original and am trying again.

I also have a problem with no sound on the text to speech.  I play the video in 'Edit Video' and I hear sound.  I have no sound on preview?  Any ideas how I can fix this issue?

        Hi Rebbex26!

Glad to see the community has been helping you!

In addition to the feedback already offered, I suggest performing a repair of your Storyline installation. However, if that does not improve the playback of the video you've imported, it's possible something else could be getting in the way.

Do you mind sharing a copy of the problematic .story file, and source video so we can test this on our end? Feel free to upload those items here in the discussion or privately through a support case.

Not sure what the format of the video is, but an *.mp4 should play just fine. You say you used video editing software; I would go back and re-export the video, checking the frame rate as Mats suggested, and also ensuring that the audio track is integrated correctly. If the video plays separately and properly outside of Storyline, then you may need to submit a ticket to Articulate.

Hey! Teams video pixelates in Storyline due to compression. Export it from Teams in 1080p, import directly into Storyline without resizing. If still blurry, convert to MP4 with HandBrake first. That’s it!

I am having this similar issue with Replay 360. I load an MP4  and it appears pixelated, making it difficult to edit.  The sound is fine, the video is not.  The video driver is up to date and the video is not pixelated before downloading to Replay 360. I have been dealing with this since last year and tried multiple ways to fix with no success.

      Hello LindaBouma,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. I'd like to test publishing your video file on my machine to see if I can replicate the quality issues you're experiencing. Would you be willing to share a copy of your video file here or privately by opening a support case for testing? We'll delete it when we're done!
