Player play button not starting Audio in Review 360

I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing player issues on a project from storyline published to review 360. The project was playing correctly on yesterday. I am also experiencing this in old projects that have already gone through review and are now published to the LMS. Some slides play others I have go to the previous slide and return to the slide and then the audio plays. When I preview the entire project in Storyline all works fine. I believe Review 360 is glitching...Is anyone else experiencing this?

You're not alone. I've witnessed this several times, in various "stages" of Storyline development; Preview, in Review 360, and published courses. As far as I know, there's no rhyme nor reason for the "burp" in audio.

Other instances, I can see the playbar advance...and no audio playing, or the playbar advances and at some random point, the audio kicks in.

No word from Articulate on this issue.

      Hi JamesWashok,

Sorry that you're also encountering inconsistent audio behavior in Storyline.

That shouldn't be happening, but erratic behavior like this can sometimes occur when authoring directly from a network drive. If you're already working locally, yet still seeing these playback issues, please try a repair of your Storyline installation.

If that doesn't improve the issue, we'd like to check the affected .story and media files you're working with. Please connect with our team through a support case so you can share those items privately.

We're happy to continue troubleshooting with you!

  • Hi Sremoun,

Sorry to hear that your Storyline audio is not playing back as expected in Review.

I see that you've connected with my teammate Mick, through a support case. It sounds like the audio issues occur intermittently and can be related to a temporary browser glitch, rather than the course itself. As Mick shared, clearing your browser's cache is a great first step and can often resolve unexpected playback behavior.

Please let us know if you run into any setbacks moving forward!

Since it plays fine in preview but breaks in the published package, I'd treat this as a delivery issue rather than a project issue. A few isolation tests I'd run:

    - Same Review link, different browser, plus a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R). If it clears up, the cache theory is the whole story — a browser can hold onto a half-downloaded audio file and keep playing silence over it.

    - Check whether the broken slides' audio differs from the working ones: imported MP3s vs audio recorded in Storyline, longer files, anything re-compressed outside Storyline. If it's one batch, re-encode one broken file at standard settings and re-test just that slide before touching the rest.

    - The detail that going back and returning fixes it is a tell: on revisit the audio is already loaded, so playback starts clean. That points at a load-timing hiccup, not a corrupt timeline.

If the cache clear doesn't stick, take that one-slide re-encode result to your support case — a clean repro on a single slide is the fastest way to move it forward.
