Publish SL360 as Videos - Triggers and Layers
Hi Yoldana,
Happy to look into this for you!
I've attached a sample project file which when published as a video, will show a slide and then it's succeeding 7 layers in sequential order in the video output. You can try setting up your slide to mirror the slide in my project to see if this works for you.
If your setup is different, would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a look at which triggers you are using? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

I found out that this works as long as the triggers are "When timeline completes on this layer" Before I tried this, I found that "When media completes" and "When variable changes" are not picked up when Publishing to video, even though they both work fine in Preview.
I'm not sure why Publish to video doesn't use the same process as Preview, because it's quite frustrating given how long it takes for it to spit out even a short video.

Hello AlexDillard,
I appreciate you sharing your frustration. You're experiencing a different processing time because of the frame rate while publishing. Publishing to video runs at 30 frames per second (fps). When folks preview or publish for Web, LMS, or Review 360, the browser controls the frame rate at 60 fps. That's why everything feels faster and smoother there!

My concern isn't that the video isn't as smooth, my difficulty is that the engine seems to handle triggers differently between Preview and Publish to video.
In Preview, using a "When media completes" trigger to step through the layers of the slide works exactly as I expected and runs all the layers in order. When Publishing to video, there is no switch after the first layer and the video runs for another minute without any further audio or animation.
Likewise, after trying to fix the problem by adding T/F variables to track when each layer completes, I found that using a trigger of "When variable Layer1Complete changes if Layer1Complete = True" also resulted in nothing more happening for a minute after the end of the first layer on the video, but it worked fine in Preview.
However, when using the "When timeline completes on this layer" triggers, Preview and Publish both produced the same results: all the layers played in order, as I intended.
My frustration is not that the video isn't as smooth as Preview, but that triggers that work in Preview don't for Publish to video. Having to troubleshoot it requires Publishing to video several times, which, even for a 1 minute demo video, takes several minutes - in addition to the time to fiddle with different triggers and read articles on E-Learning Heroes trying to figure out why it doesn't work.
