Publish to SCORM New Dialoge Box

I wanted to share some feedback regarding the new Publish dialogue box. In the past, when I published a SCORM package, I would click to ZIP the SCORM file. Now, I have to make an additional click to share before I can ZIP it. When working on large projects with 20 or more SCORM packages, this extra step will no doubt become quite frustrating. It would be much more efficient if Storyline automatically zipped the file upon completing the publish process, especially since I am selecting SCORM, which is essentially a ZIP file anyway.

  • Hey Darthwilson, PhilMayor, & Silverfire

We appreciate the feedback on how we could improve your publishing experience in Storyline.

I'd like to provide our teams with the most real-world context as possible. In terms of frequency and scale, how often are you publishing SCORM packages?

Also, beyond automatic zipping, are there other parts of Storyline's publishing process that feel unnecessarily manual compared to Rise?

HiStevenBenassi thanks for reaching out. During build and review I use review 360 the majority of the time I may publish to web a couple of times if I a modifying the package in anyway.

for LMS 99% of courses I build (100+ per year) will be exported to Scorm or xAPI and all will beed zipping. I would prefer it if publish gave me a zip, or at a minimum go back to the previous choices without hiding them.

I would love it if I could start the publish process and it runs as a background task and I can continue to edit the Storyline file in a lot of cases I want to test something but still have lots of builds to sort out.

publishing still feels unnecessarily slow and if it fails does not give me a reason why. I would love a report if it is a corrupted item I can fix.

also I am seeing a lot of crashes at publish and it starts to feel like presenter where I always save before publishing.

  • Hey Everyone,

I'm happy to share that we've just released another update for Storyline 360. In version 3.123.37616.0, we’ve included essential fixes and new features. One of the enhancements we've shipped is:

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

I completely agree. If you're publishing to SCORM why can't Articulate just default to outputting as a zip? It's also semantically counterintuitive. You mean, after I publish the file, I still have to do more stuff? All LMSes (to my knowledge) want a zipped SCORM anyways.

  • I would have much preferred if I choose scorm that it outputs a zip and drops it in downloads, this is one of the areas that is much better in Rise over Storyline publish and Get a zip

I completely agree. There are many things that could be improved in terms of ergonomics and design in Storyline...this wasn't one of them.

    • Hey JoDS31,

      Thanks for reaching out.

We'd love to hear more about the specific design issues in Storyline that cause the most friction for you day to day. Do you mind sharing more details on that request?
