Question about Rise and Storyline
Hi all! Question: Can you help me? Can a learner start the course then stop and when they come back in, it will pick right up where they stopped in Rise and Storyline? If so, how do I as the developer make sure this is enabled so that if the learner needs to step away from their desk and jump back into the course later-that the course will pick up right where they left off. My company needs this enabled for my first project :)

As long as the course is hosted in an LMS/LRS, users will be able to resume.
Resuming the lesson where they left off is the standard for Rise courses.
Storyline provides more options for what happens when the user resumes a course. The Resume setting is in the Other section of the Player properties.
Here's how the User Guide explains the settings:
Here's more info:
- Rise 360: Share Content with Learners | Articulate - Community
- Storyline 360: Publishing a Course for LMS/LRS Distribution | Articulate - Community
If the course isn't in an LMS/LRS, the program doesn't have anywhere to store the suspend/resume data.

Hi candywright,
That is a great question! For Storyline, the setting you're referring to is known simply as the Resume setting in the Player Properties. This option by default is Prompt to resume, but you can also set it to Always resume or Never resume. It sounds like you would be fine with the default setting, which as its name suggests would ask the user if they want to resume their saved progress or restart.
For Rise, when incorporating the learning experience into an LMS, the resume functionality should be on by default. Web-only courses will always restart at the beginning.
It is important to always test the course prior to rolling it out to to check that the functionality is what you intended, and specifically for Rise there have been reported issues with certain LMS and the resume feature not working as intended, in which case you would reach out to support by opening a case and they can likely pinpoint the issue for you.
Hope this clears things up!
